Memorandum Of Understanding

FREASCO Project

Freasco (Free from sexism and sexual harassment at school) is a two-year project financed by the Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme 2020 (Grant Agreement Number – 101005693).

The project is structured on four main strands of action with the aim of analysing the existing tools and methods to tackle gender-based stereotypes and their consequences, such as sexual harassment, sexism and homophobic violence within educational institutions and universities targeting young students from 15 up to 24 years.

The project’s objective is to provide qualitative self-assessment tools to consider what internal practices and support systems are in place and suggest improvements. The responses to the tools will be translated into a “quality label” for schools and universities.

Purpose and Scope of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

This MoU represents one of the most important elements of the project for the successful implementation of activities to support schools and universities in improving their response to the problem. The Memorandum is aligned with the Report from the Council of Europe “Safe at school: Education sector responses to violence based on sexual orientation, gender identity/expression or sex characteristics in Europe” (2018) in which a very detailed set of recommendations are provided to Member States for education sectors.
